Article Title: Career Planning Reflection: Are You Where You Should Be?!

Author: Linda Gravett, Ph.D., SHRM-SCP, CEQC

Since many of us are sheltered in place and have more time to think and reflect, this might be a great time to consider where you are in your career.Dr. Linda Gravett photo

I encourage you to reflect on where you are today and what you can proactively do to end the year in a place that makes you feel fulfilled.  As you reflect, here are some questions to ask yourself to use as a framework:

  1.  Think about your core values.  Write down the ones that really, really matter to you (time with family, contributing to your community, learning, etc.)
  2. Write down your career goals – focus on the next two years and what you want to accomplish.
  3. What assignments can you volunteer for at work that will help you develop the skills and competencies you need to reach your career goals?
  4. What volunteer activities within your community can you volunteer for that will help you develop the skills and competencies you need?
  5. What associations can you get more involved with that add to your leadership experience and visibility?
  6. Who are the people in your life you can turn to for mentoring?  What do you want to learn from them?

Stay well and safe so I can greet you in person soon!
